Angie specializes in Injury Rehabilitation and Hawaiian Lomilomi massage, an ancient holistic approach to wellness passed down through generations.  Lomilomi not only addresses muscles and tendons, but also explores the fascia and ligaments, movement of joints, alignment of bones, and emotional connections within the body.  We work light to deep with the natural rhythm of your breath, affecting the nervous system and lymphatic complex while gradually working through several layers of soft tissue, penetrating deep "into the bones" where old and new traumas are hidden.

Lomilomi decreases muscle pain and tension by breaking up fibrous deposits and lactic acid, improving circulation of blood and lymph, eliminating toxins and edema, alleviating muscle spasm, and increasing metabolism.  Angie combines her knowledge of anatomy with compassionate presence to create an individualized session based on your needs.  She is committed to listening to what you want to receive from each session and to listening to your body to gauge how deep we work.  She will empower you to see positive changes happening by helping you notice improvements, no matter how small they may seem.

Oregon License # 16562

She received her massage certification from the Maui Academy of Healing Arts in Kihei, a school that emphasizes a balance of therapeutic and energetic techniques.  She began her studies in Lomilomi with kumu Jeana Iwalani Naluai and has completed advanced studies in Lomilomi with kumus Dr. Maka'ala Yates and Marcia York.  Angie also has advanced training in Neuromuscular Therapy and a BS in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Angie has been physically active her entire life, with a foundation in soccer, volleyball, and softball.  Having to rehabilitate from four knee surgeries, she is better able to understand aches, pains, and injuries of athletes.  Over the past decade, she has deepened her mind-body-breath connection through tai chi, qigong, and yoga.  In her free time, she enjoys yoga, biking, walking in nature, and eating fresh local food.

Angie is a nationally certified practitioner and a member of the Association of Bodywork and Massage Professionals.  She can help you recover from car or bike accidents and is a preferred provider on most insurance plans that cover massage therapy.

In addition to massage therapy, Angie also offers one day retreats in southwest Portland with Jo Whitsell, an amazing practitioner that performs Alchemical and Orthopedic Acupuncture.  For more information, click on the tab for Portland Urban Retreat.

Angie began working in event production in 2004 by contracting with several destination management companies in the Hawaiian islands, executing memorable customized events, outdoor activities, and transporatation logistics for corportate incentive groups from 2004-2008.

In October 2008, Angie teamed up with the founder of Bamboo YogaPlay, Sofiah Thom, in Dominical, Costa Rica.  She provided massage therapy services and developed retreat packages and promotional materials for the yoga studio.  She also co-produced the "Journey into your Bliss"  retreat with the Blissful Sisters and Wade Morissette in March 2009.  It was an amazing seven days of yoga, nutrition, kirtan, gorgeous walks along the Baru river, and relaxation on Playa Dominical.
